Panama Canal

During the late 1800’s, the Panama Canal was built to greatly shorten the distance boats needed to travel to ship goods. This improved trade relations between the United States and the rest of the world, contributing to the economy we have today. 

We can view the Panama Canal as a physical connection between countries and a product of globalism. 

Think of some ways in which countries have become more interconnected since the early 20th century. How might those connections affect domestic and global policies?
