Lesson 35:
Structured discussion.
In this lesson, after some rehearsal time, each team presents their argument about why their character is like family to Lonnie. (Note: This is a structured discussion, not a debate, because students don’t argue against one another. Each of these characters is like family to Lonnie in some way.) Ideally, this discussion would take place during a live, synchronous lesson. If that is impossible, each team could pre-record their presentation using an app like FlipGrid. Students could then view and comment on their classmates’ presentations.
